Implant retained snap-on denture

Snap-on dentures in Midway City

If your denture slides when you talk, rocks when you chew or needs a tube of adhesive to stay put, snap-on dentures give it something solid to lock onto.

Who snap-on dentures help most

A middle ground between a regular denture and a fixed full arch.

  • Your lower denture won't stay down.Lower dentures are notorious for floating. A couple of implants usually fixes that.

  • You want stability but not a fixed arch.Fewer implants than All-on-4, and the denture still comes out.

  • You like taking your teeth out at night. Some people just prefer it. That doesn't change with snap-on dentures.

Getting snap-on dentures, step by step

Your current denture often keeps working for you while you heal.

  1. Consult

We look at your bone and decide how many implants your arch needs. Usually two for the lower jaw, often more for the top.

  2. Implant placement

Implants go in. Your existing denture may be adjusted so you can keep wearing it.

  3. Healing

A few months for the implants to bond with the bone.

  4. Attachments and fit

Snap attachments go on the implants and the denture gets matching clips. Sometimes your current denture can be retrofitted.

Worth knowing

Snap-on dentures solve the slipping. They don't turn a denture into fixed teeth.

  • It's still removable. You take it out daily to clean the denture and the implant attachments.

  • The clips wear out. The small nylon inserts that grip the implants get replaced every so often. It's a quick visit, but it's ongoing.

  • Upper versions may still cover your palate. Depending on the design and how many implants you have, the top denture might keep some palate coverage.

Snap-on denture questions

Can my current denture be turned into a snap-on denture?

Sometimes. If your denture fits well and is in good shape, attachments can be added to it. If it's worn or loose, a new one usually works better.

How many implants do snap-on dentures need?

Commonly two for the lower jaw. The upper jaw has softer bone, so it usually takes more. Your imaging decides it.

Do I sleep with snap-on dentures in?

Usually not. Taking them out at night gives your gums a rest and lets you clean everything properly.

Snap-on dentures or All-on-4, which is better?

Neither is better across the board. Snap-on dentures need fewer implants and cost less but come out. All-on-4 stays in and feels more like real teeth. It comes down to budget, bone and how you want to live with it.
